Position Summary

Breathing Air Systems is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager / Human Resources professional to oversee day-to-day accounting operations and manage the full human resources function. This hybrid role combines hands-on accounting responsibilities — including payroll, accounts payable, and sales tax — with comprehensive HR administration covering onboarding, benefits, and compliance. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and thrives in an environment that requires balancing multiple responsibilities across finance and people operations.

Required Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required for this position. Candidates must also have proficiency with NetSuite ERP, strong working knowledge of payroll processing and sales tax compliance, and experience administering employee benefits and HR documentation. The role requires a high level of discretion when handling confidential financial and employee information, along with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting Operations

The Accounting Manager will own the following accounting functions within NetSuite:
  • Processing payroll, including tax filings and reconciliations
  • Managing accounts payable from invoice entry through payment
  • Preparing and filing month sales tax returns across applicable jurisdictions
  • Handling workers’ compensation reporting and supporting annual audits
  • Administering the company timekeeping application
  • Performing credit card transaction matching and reconciliation
  • Tracking and approving employee time off
  • Managing business license renewals, filings & payments.  Report business license fees to service coordinators for reimbursement.
  • Supporting 401(k) and insurance audits
  • Assist with creating of budgets and management reporting

Human Resources

This role manages the complete employee lifecycle, including all related HR paperwork:
  • Preparing hiring documents, offer letters, and new-hire paperwork
  • Setting up new employees in payroll, benefits, and timekeeping systems
  • Administering insurance documents and benefit setup for new hires
  • Managing health insurance enrollments, qualifying life events, and open enrollment
  • Handling the full termination process, including reversing and canceling benefits, payroll, and system access
  • Maintaining accurate and compliant employee records throughout

Backup Support

This position serves as cross-functional backup for Lisa during absences or periods of high volume:
  • Processing incoming mail
  • Posting accounts receivable entries
  • Entering accounts payable invoices

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three or more years of combined accounting and HR experience
  • Prior experience in a small-to-mid-sized company where roles span multiple functions
  • Familiarity with multi-state payroll and sales tax
  • CPA, PHR, or SHRM-CP certification
